You knew it was coming...

Bandai has sent out a press release warning fansubbers against illegally downloading, fansubbing and redistributing their titles, including the forthcoming Ghost in the Shell film, Solid State Society.

In the press release, Bandai CEO Ken Iyadomi stated that fansubs are not only harmful to their company, but the industry as a whole. He says that the company is prepared to take serious legal action against people who illegally distribute their titles in the future.

Fansubbing has become a hot topic as of late, with lots of company execs and fans alike expressing their opinion (including our podcasters). What do you all think of Bandai's statement?

Whatever... we all know what happened with MFI... clearly Bandai thinks they don't need to make anymore money.

Well, there's nothing they can do if the fansubbers cover thier tracks. I'm just hoping suits don't take over everything as it is, since I think they are.

“Do you know what it does to me when I see those little bandages covering you? Have you any idea the pain I feel when I know those are evidence to times I wasn’t there to protect you? I fail you every [censored] time a cut or bruise taints your body. I die every time you get hurt. I can feel how you ache and my soul bleeds knowing I wasn’t here for you. You are so strong Ritsuka. You know suffering and you know true pain, but you’re training is over too. I’m here, we’re one finally. You’ll never have to endure this again, I swear to you.”

I think as long as there are poor people there will be people who will distribute stuff illegally it should be more of a compliment.

I think their trying to attack a problem that can't be beaten. In otherwords their starting a battle they can't win.
